Why Choose Cedar House Heritage Poodles

The Cedar House Heritage Poodles Difference

From Our Family to Yours

Cedar House Heritage Poodles is a family-owned boutique breeder specializing in Toy and Miniature Poodles in Missouri. We are Nick and Edna, and together with our daughters, we personally raise our puppies inside our home, where they receive individual attention and experience the everyday sounds, routines, and affection of family life.

Long before we began raising Poodles, I gained hands-on experience showing AKC Champion Bulldogs and Pugs. Those years taught me the importance of health, genetics, structure, sound temperament, and attentive, hands-on care—lessons that continue to guide how we plan each pairing, care for our parent dogs, and raise every Cedar House puppy.

We believe Poodles make exceptional companions. They are intelligent, easy to train, gentle with our children, and full of fun, affectionate personality. Their low-shedding coats also make them appealing to many allergy-conscious families. Whether welcomed as a beloved family pet or, with the right temperament and training, prepared for life as an emotional support animal or therapy dog, Poodles have a remarkable ability to form close, meaningful bonds with their people.

Boutique by Choice

We raise a limited number of thoughtfully planned litters rather than breeding to maintain a constant supply of puppies. Sometimes several litters arrive close together, followed by quieter months with no puppies available.

Our decisions are guided by the health, maturity, recovery, and individual needs of our females, along with our ability to give every mother and puppy the personal attention they deserve. Because we only raise a limited number of litters each year, our goal is to place each puppy with a family who will cherish them for a lifetime.

Our Dogs, Our Responsibility

Our parent dogs are our own beloved companions. We do not use guardian-home programs or send our puppies elsewhere to be raised. From planning each pairing and caring for mothers and puppies to communicating with families and personally arranging go-home day, we remain involved in every part of the experience.

That responsibility matters to us. We know our parent dogs, we know our puppies, and we know the care and preparation behind each one before they are ever introduced to a prospective family.

Health Testing & Thoughtful Pairings

Our breeding dogs receive breed-relevant genetic testing through trusted laboratories such as Embark. We consider those results alongside veterinary health, temperament, structure, adult size, coat and color genetics, pedigree, and family history.

Genetic testing is an important tool, but responsible breeding requires looking at the complete dog. Our goal is not simply to produce a particular color or size. It is to thoughtfully pair dogs whose qualities complement one another and give their puppies a strong foundation for health, temperament, and family companionship.

Personally Matched, Never Pressured

Choosing a puppy should feel exciting, not overwhelming. If you already know which puppy belongs with you, I will help you take the next step. If you are undecided, I will talk with you about your household, lifestyle, preferred size, experience, and what you hope to find in a companion.

My goal is not to pressure you into choosing the first available puppy. It is to help you make a confident decision about the puppy—and the breeder—who feel right for your family.

Distinctly Cedar House

Little Legacies and our Total Package Promise are two experiences distinctly our own, created to give every Cedar House Heritage puppy—and every family—a thoughtful, prepared, and well-supported beginning.

Little Legacies: Their First Eight Weeks Matter

When you bring home one of my puppies, I want you to know there has been a great deal of love, thought, and preparation behind those first eight weeks. Little Legacies is our signature eight-week puppy-preparation approach, created exclusively for puppies raised at Cedar House Heritage Poodles. As they reach meaningful developmental milestones, puppies are introduced to daily handling, household sounds and routines, age-appropriate enrichment, new surfaces and surroundings, grooming, crate-training foundations, play, and social interaction. Each puppy progresses at an individual pace rather than through a rigid checklist. Once your puppy is reserved, you also receive weekly pictures and updates so you can follow their development and begin getting to know them before go-home day.

Our Total Package Promise
